Come walk with me by the river
Yes down by the river, along the bank
Just around the bend, across those planks
He takes her hand
I'm really glad that the day is so clear
He can't believe that they're really here
I fixed us a basket so we can have lunch
He found some daisies, picked her a bunch
I brought cheese, bread and a bottle of wine
Good he mused, we can spend a little time
I brought cookies too, and just a little fruit
I even remembered to bring two flutes
He removes his jacket, getting warm...
Down by the river
close by the bank
around the bend
across the planks
sunlight golden
matching smiles
they slipped away
to be alone
for awhile
Basket of goodies
bottle of wine
perfect setting
to spend a little time
Water rolling
cool and clear
they pick a spot
to settle near
Tender glances
hard to miss
inexplicably drawn
they share a little kiss.
