Just marking time
The sea is calm the sky is clear.
I walk alone along the pier.
Recalling how we used to talk
as we enjoyed our nightly walk.
A stroll we took quite frequently.
To see the sunset on the sea.
Enjoying the togetherness
as daylight gave way to darkness.
We were content to be a pair
the love we shared beyond compare
Now death has claimed you for his own
and I am left to grieve alone
Though when I walk along the pier
I can feel your presence near.
The evening breezeās soft caress
reminds me of your tenderness.
We never had a family
There is no one to comfort me.
Now when I walk along the pier
my troubles seem to disappear.
This is where I need to be
where I can feel you near to me
As I wait impatiently
for my friend death to set me free.
I know that I will rejoin you.
My heart tells me this is true.
I know somewhere you wait for me
and I will join you presently.
